Behavior Intervention and Therapy Services
Back to Staff Page

Behavior Intervention and Therapy Services at CCS shall be provided in a proactive, participatory, and positive fashion.  Our efforts shall be designed to promote participant's use of skills that permits maximal inclusion in life affairs with as little assistance as possible.  Participants who display serious unwanted behavior shall be treated with approaches that strive to identify situations and behavioral precursors that precede such acts and provide reinforcement for acceptable alternatives within the episode.  Interventions that are used during and immediately after the display of unwanted behavior shall be intended primarily to minimize risks to the participant or others, rather than as an integral component of the behavioral treatment.   We believe that this mission embodies the most contemporary interpretations of Least Restrictive and Active Treatment, and places each of us in an advocacy role for persons who present behavioral needs.
